BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME

Hartlepool's latest hotel... for kittiwakes. It's only just been completed and already they're arriving - if you go large or look on a big screen you can just about see some taking up some of the ledges. It's been funded by a Danish offshore windfarm company and there's more about it here.

I noticed that the kittiwakes are also returning to their customary nest sites on some of the buildings around the Headland (extra), so they haven't all been tempted by smart new ledges yet.
