Life...
……………………......……in the Wild
The hated paper wasp wrecking carnage in the garden this morning. They feed their young on live food and this happened to be the remains of a monarch butterfly caterpillar.
This wasp sits on the seedpod of the swan plant. This is the only plant a monarch caterpillar can eat to survive.
Sadly, as the population of paper wasps increase it is at the expense of the beautiful monarch butterfly.
I have added a triptych as an extra - I want these photos added to the Monarch Butterfly Series I have accumulated over the years on Blipfoto (click on the tag to see the life cycle from tiny eggs through the emerging butterflies)
