What?

Is this what happens when the birdhouse is no good?
Looks like a serious tragedy has occurred there in the past

Edit: I made a wrong assumption. This probably has nothing to do with the condition of the birdhouse. I found out that at least blackbirds and fieldfares can do this. I also heard that there is another two-story nest nearby.
