Small Tortoiseshell

A gloriously sunny day!  So a perfect day for a short wander and I visited the local Downs, although I was a bit apprehensive as they're undergoing 'restorative' works at the moment and from the photos on FB I've seen, it seems more like destruction work!!

Thankfully the area I visited didn't seem too badly affected so far, although one of the areas that was where the rarer butterflies visited has been destroyed so not good! But it was wonderful to see a number of butterflies fluttering around - small tortoiseshells, peacocks, red admirals, whites and brimstones - so I hope the numbers stay high! It was also rather wonderful to hear and see the chiffchaffs back!
