Teal

I went to Blackford Pond this afternoon and was pleased to find that the pair of teal which had been there on my last visit were still there. I've got a not-very-brilliant extra of this male with a male mallard which shows how much smaller the teal is. I hope they will stay and have tiny ducklings, although I think it's likely that they wouldn't be safe - mallard ducklings don't do well and teal ducklings must be a lot smaller.

There were no adult swans which wasn't a surprise. It looks very unlikely that there will be any cygnets this year. I did see a little grebe so hopefully it will breed as they have done the last few years.
