Mr Boni’s
This is a bit of a shabby corner in Tollcross, just across the road from the King’s Theatre.
There was once a great ice cream parlour on the whole of this corner site here. It was called Mr Boni’s and was a popular hangout for many.
There was the ice cream shop but also a sit-in restaurant.
Sadly it closed many years ago now but there is still this old painted reminder of what was once here. It’s a ghost sign which was uncovered in 2017. I took a photo of it through the bus window as we headed into the centre of Edinburgh.
It was also the place where hubby and I went to on our first date, so we have particularly fond memories of this place.
We headed to Waverley Station and got the train back down to London after a great few days in Edinburgh.
