My Old Friend
Walked through Newhall to my dentist appointment, and was thrilled to see my old friend (or a relative), the heron. We have herons in the Alentejo, but they really are wild, I've never got near enough for a decent photo.
Chose this photo to show the stream as well. Which actually flows through the centre of Sutton, but has been tarmacked over, and most folk never even know it's there. In Shakespeare's time, it was dammed and formed a pool where the Gracechurch Centre (an increasingly scruffy shopping area) is now. It is my dream to see this stream become the centrepiece of Sutton once more.
Gratefuls:
- our wonderful dentist, and the two fillings he did for me
- all the beauty of Newhall, petals like fragrant snowflakes falling on me from the blackthorn, robins singing, sparkling water, wagtails bobbing
- Sofía, one week old today, doing really well, as is her Mummy
