One day lost for Blip,
but we carry on and take
many more photos

For whatever reason, I could not log in to Blipfoto yesterday to post my collage. I tried various times between 4 PM and midnight using our hotel's wifi, but it would not let me log in. All other websites that I frequent worked just fine, but not Blipfoto. I remembered that in the past it was possible to email the entry and I tried that too. Nada!
This morning we left Twin Falls, Idaho after breakfast. We crossed the Perrine Bridge over the Snake River and were soon motoring west towards Oregon on the 84..
Our trip this morning was uneventful. There were broad expanses of open range with herds of cattle grazing. Many wobbly calves were in evidence. We crossed the Snake River several times before reaching Baker City, Oregon. It is a warm, summery day and we needed the A/C. The mountains surrounding Baker City are bright with snow.
We arrived in Baker City at noon and ready for some lunch. The restaurant near the 84. We were able to check in early at our motel. My daughter is still feeling less than 100%, so I left her in our room while I drove around the town for some photos.
Just across the road is a derelict windmill that no one seems to know anything about. Was it a restaurant? Was it for advertising a business? Currently, it provides a home for pigeons.
On the other side of the road behind the windmill is what was a Chinese cemetery. It is much like the Chinese cemetery in my home town. No actual graves remain, as the bones were returned to China. The signage marks an important period in local history.
The historic downtown has many beautiful old houses that deserve to be painted. They are in good condition and are well cared for. The Saint Francis de Sales Catherdral , completed in 1908, is an elegant building and serves the Catholic diocese.
I'm the one with the box of tissues today. I hope this doesn't get any worse and I can enjoy the rest of our days together on the road.
