Rush Hour, Gambia Style

Here we are in Banjul, the capital city of The Gambia.  It's pretty rough and ready, as one would expect in this part of the world -- especially considering The Gambia's relatively recent history.

All these people were lined up to board the Kunta Kinteh ferry (yes, that Kunta Kinte of Alex Haley's Roots fame).  We couldn't believe how many were crammed aboard, along with numerous cars and trucks!  No idea where they were all going, but perhaps as Banjul is an island, people were going to the mainland to start their work day.

Extra:  Some of the goods on display at the dock -- the entire length of the pier was lined with vendors hawking their wares!
