Jackson Browne wrote this song when he was around 16 years old and gave the song to his girlfriend Nico in 1967. She recorded it for her debut album Chelsea Girls in April 1967, and it has since been covered many times. Jackson Browne revised it for his own version in 1973, and still performs the song. This version is a highpoint of the album Covers, a recently acquired CD that I played through today.
