Early Spring Flowers: Goodbye, mi hermano.
...and the morning came as it always has... the sun rose as it always does...
A beautiful spring day, with warm air and the beautiful stillness of the nearby mountains. Their gentle looming presence hummed quietly below the creatures residing in the countryside. The birds sang so beautifully, and for whatever reason as I drifted back into the waking world, their melody carried within their voices reminders of the past, peace and the greater world beyond. I pondered at length in bed of cosmic travels mapped out into the imagination of my mind and wondered where the melodies were migrating to. I could lose myself.
Carried with their voices was my friend, perhaps enticed by the prospect of peace and mystique of the beyond, but certainly lead by his heart to where his curiosity signaled to. With breath low and heart faint, he took the first steps to quietly take flight.
We woke up to make final comforts before he had to be taken away to hospital. Some of us stayed behind to wait for friends promptly on their way. Communications, and what was left of our hope, was tight as we separated. Half of us waited outside in the family garden, the warm waves of inevitability desperately being barricaded by disbelief and apprehension. Was it all a dream?
As he stopped breathing, a crater-like fissure imploded inside our hearts, with a slow vibration. The spring flowers flowed listlessly to the air with a rhythmic sway into the warm spring sky. The sun gently caressed our tears.
As we finally arrived to the hospital, he momentarily returned, his heart still faint. We could give him our final messages as he gazed into the great beyond where he could be free.
"Did I tell you I love you today?"
Our messages were all the necessary provisions he needed on his next journey. His expression confident and content, his tear a goodbye. I could only imagine what he was thinking, but he was ready, and he knew how much we love him.
