Wet, wet, wet
Wet and windy all day long! I'm going down to London tomorrow for a week or so and having checked the forecast, there seems to be dry days from Saturday onwards! I hope they're right!
I was pleased a week or so ago to see that one of my Rhabdothamnus solandri had three tiny buds! Known as the New Zealand gloxinia, it first flowered in February last year after seed having been sown in August 2022. It’s a gorgeous plant from North Island, New Zealand, and won’t be hardy outside here, but still a lovely plant to grow. I assumed that it would flower while I was away, but one opened yesterday! The flower is only a centimetre across, but a lovely colour and my Blip today.
The world is full of the most wonderful plants - if I won a million on the pools I would build a gigantic glasshouse to grow them in!
Getting ready to go away - just as well it’s a wet day so I didn’t feel too bad about staying indoors!
Quote of the Day: ‘Asking an artist to talk about his work is like asking a plant to discuss horticulture.’ - Jean Cocteau.
