I am the Grandmother of a Twenty Year Old!

I had a real mix up this morning. I booked the Flix bus to Edinburgh last night for 12:10 leaving Broxden. Then the Miller and Carter steakhouse for lunch at 2pm. But I also had booked into to my weights circuit class at 11……. Which takes 1 hour. It was just as I was going out the door that my husband said - what time is your bus, then it dawned on me that I had made a right mess of organising it - jeez! Losing it!

Of course I could not go to the class so I texted them with a short explanation which ended up a long explanation.

Anyway, it was a lovely day today and the bus was on time and I had booked the front seat which I like and it was a grand journey in. No hold ups and I wandered down George Street the. Down Fredrick Street and met Cameron.

I was the only one that was free to go and see him on his birthday and I look a Colin in for hi
To share with his pals. (Colin the caterpillar cake).

We had a fab meal. They do a special lunch deal 3 courses for 22 or 2 for 19.95. Cameron had fried Calamari, rump steak with a beef dripping sauce , chips and some onion thing and salted caramel profiteroles with chocolate sauce. I had flattened chicken with brocolli and smashed boiled potatoes and a peppercorn sauce followed by a white chocolate creme brûlée which was huge and I gave Cameron half. I mentioned to the waitress when she was taking the order that I was put off a lot of the menu as all the calories were written against the dish. Mine was the lowest at almost 500. (Main) and she said that they have to do that. Well it worked for me, resistance I mean. The food was really good. First time in a M and C.

We had some really good chat just the two of us. He’s thinking of staying on for a masters and possibly a PHd. I asked him what sort of field he would work in and he mentioned physics but NOT defence as he doesn’t want to work for a company that sells weapons, giving the example of Israeli guns killing Palestinians. Any weapons actually. I was pleased to hear this from him.

I have to pinch myself to think he is 20 ! It seems no time at all that we were rocking around in my wee Corsa going here there and everywhere singing Born to Run at the top of our voices when he was just a wee lad. Mostly Thursday’s it was just him and I , before Ben came along. He had nursery in the morning, back here for lunch then to the baths for his swimming lesson the. We would head to Nero for hot chocolate and a cookie for him and a coffee for me. Then we would have a walk and end up at the British heart foundation where he could pick a toy or a book for two pound. I remember one time we got a bargain - he chose a pin ball machine!

Then it was round the corner to Liqwid for an ice cream where we would meet my mum and then home for tea - fresh fish Thursday. Thursdays I didn’t work, it was our day. I really miss those fun times. It was even more mad when Ben came along. In a good way. Also Breagha added to the madness she was a typical crazy spaniel.

Cameron is a good lad. I am so proud of him.

(Ps he is growing through a phase of having long hair……). I told him he resembled a red indian warrior. He wants it cut but not short so he needs a hairdresser not a barber (I think). As he has a physics ball next month.

Him last year https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/3219058973390932613
