FAREWELL WITH A SMILE

The Rev did an amazing job at his stepdad’s funeral in between a few tears.

In the morning The Rev was totally hyper….he mowed back and front lawns, walked the dog, went to the undertakers, went shopping and made a splendid veg basket to go on the coffin and that was all before midday!!! I had my nails done :))
The boys and fiancées came at 12:30.
The hearse came at 1 to collect The Rev it was nice for us 6 to have a moment with Grandan.
We went via his allotment where lots of potholders came to say farewell. A plaque was blessed and put in the memorial garden. Then we went to the Crem. There was about 70 people there but weirdly about 40 who I didn’t know!!! Felt very strange. My lovely friend Emma sat with me. O read a beautiful piece he’d written and J went up to support him. The Rev conducted a lovely service with memories and humour. sadly Mum missed the service as we hadn’t confirmed the Crem and there is one nearer!! But she made it to the “do”
Afterwards we went back to the allotment where many of Dan’s friends had put on a tasty spread.

In the evening J&D and O&P stayed for a Chinese takeaway. With 3 of them doing shift work (and P is going back to India next week for a few months) it was great to be together.
