I'm A Lumberjack...
One of our favourite cafes has closed so we diverted to Newhailes for coffee instead.
On a walk in the grounds we heard the sound of chain saw and, seeing activity high in a tree, stood watching the tree feller as branch after branch was cut off - top right the twiggy one, bottom right the branch he had been standing on.
Continuing the walk through trees to the field (currently ploughed for arable crops)
I saw my first bluebells of the season and windflowers, neither as yet in abundance (see extra 1).
On the way home we called in to Drum Antiques, which is now a series of containers with stock from different sellers, a double-decker bus, likewise, before we tackled the large warehouse.
Here we bumped (almost literally) into a presenter and crew from the BBC programme Antiques Road Trip. I assume they had already made their selections or decisions as the cameras were not in use, so don't expect to see us gawping in the background. One item I fancied, but don't need, though might be a candidate for the contestants, is in extra 2. It's an old waffle iron, with maker's mark 1 B SKOGLUND OLSON GEFLE, a Swedish company founded in 1874, renowned for cast iron products. My iron is plain round shape but this model is like a flower with ten petals, I love it and if the contestants don't buy it I might go back for it - and by then perhaps there'll be the item I was looking for.
