An 80th birthday in hospital

My old neighbour is dying. He has prostate cancer. He has been palliative for about a year now, but he is now in hospital very near the end. He is very special to me. He refers to me as his ‘other’ daughter. He was holding out to turn 80, which he did. I think he will pass any day now.
