... tongue.

We were very excited to come across not one but two little garter snakes on our walk this afternoon at Housenick Memorial park ... our first snake sightings for the year.  The second one can be seen in Extras.  He/she was having a much better day than this one in the main shot.  And was enjoying the sunshine in a pile of leaves. 

It appears something has happened to this poor snake's left eye.  And as you can well imagine he/she was acting very defensively towards us so we tried not to bother him/her for long.  Got a couple ... or a hundred ... shots and then left him/her in peace.  I do hope the eye heals and that sight isn't lost to the eye.  Hopefully we'll see him/her again in the future with a recovered eye.
