Hegseth and his warrior ethos

Pete “lethality” Hegseth, whose only qualification for becoming the US Secretary of Defense is his loyalty to Trump and a history of abusing women and alcohol, was in the Philippines today, reinforcing the “warrior ethos” he wants the USA to be known for. But local activists say Hegseth was making a deal: military funding in exchange for critical minerals. In any conflict with China, the people of the Philippines would be used as pawns. 

Speakers from local organizations were out in the pouring rain today protesting Hegseth’s deal-making and saber-rattling. Especially those of you who are young and will outlive me: please tell folks in the future that we WERE out in the streets every day, in every weather, protesting. I can’t attend and document all the protests, but people are in the streets all the time. Bless them. I am taking care to avoid making photos that can be used for surveillance by agents of corruption.

On another subject entirely, I have settled Auntie Fa on top of my piano (see Extra) as a roost she can use when I’m not clutching her to my bosom. Today I realized what a testament to Blip my home is. Above her is a photo of Bruges from Lightchaser12, and above that a photo of young Mums made by MarknLizzie. The large unborn bird is the work of Walter Anderson, whose daughter Leif is a lapsed blipper. Seth bought it for me years ago when I was working on a now-abandoned autobiography that began, “I came from an egg.”
