The funeral
It’s been quite a day.
We set off today at 8.30 and drove Doonhame to Dumfriesshire to attend my aunt’s funeral.
I had been rather apprehensive about it since I haven’t been down for a long time and I wasn’t sure how many folk I would actually recognise. As it turned out, it was great to see all my cousins on my Dad’s side, of which I am the oldest. We were all realising that we are now the older generation.
Lots of good chat was had at the soup and sandwiches lunch afterwards and I also managed to catch up with neighbouring farmer friends. It’s a pity we only meet up at funerals these days!
Afterwards we drove over to the next parish to put some flowers on my parents’ grave. Unfortunately one of the squally showers that punctuated the day hit at that point, so we beat a retreat back up the road to Edinburgh.
My main photo shows the walk to the burial after the church ceremony. The extras show the view back towards the church and the second one is the view from the cemetery where my parents lie.
