Solace Day 1.
As I mentioned before we are off adventuring again. So a good trip down the M6 and we were at the boat by mid afternoon. Soon we were loaded and ready for off. This trip we are heading down the Staffordshire and worcester canal.
The first problem was getting out of the marina. The1 entrance is very tight with an immediate left hand turn. The doddering old fool at the helm managed to get the boat stuck crossways in the canal. Eventually we got free and headed off. Next a few hundred yards down the canal a 90° turn on to the Staffs and Worcs. Fortunately this went easily and well, there were a number of "gongoozlers" around.
We intended to moor at Tixel Wide, however as usual we found most mooring points taken. So onward a few hundred and a nice quiet mooring out on our own.
NOw we have lost our helmsman (The late mate) it falls to me to take the helm. This means I am not free to take photos as I used to. So after mooring I had a walk and spotted there seed heads of Lesser Burdock (Arctium minus ). Not the sort of blip I expected but I rather like it.
