The Way I See Things

Bee-flies are pretty bizarre creatures. There's nothing they can do about that permanently extended narwhal tusk of a proboscis (except separate the two halves of it, which makes them look even weirder), but while most flying insects seem to make at least some attempt to tuck in their extremities while they're airborne, bee-flies often move around like this, with legs sticking out in all directions. It's not aerodynamic, and you'd think that it would give potential predators extra chances to snatch the fly out of the air. But they seem to be doing quite well without any advice from me, so I should probably just let them get on with it.

Today's gardening task (eeeurgh) was shredding a large pile of clippings from the laurel hedge we had trimmed a couple of weeks ago, and bagging them to rot down for mulch. R helped with most of it, but even so it took a long time, and was very, very boring. Still, it's another thing crossed off the List, so yay me.
