Comic Relief
Yesterday Brian noticed on Facebook that there was a flash mob event taking place in town today to raise money for Comic Relief. We thought we might as well go down and take some photos.
A solar partial eclipse was taking place at the time too. I tried to capture it but failed miserably on that front.
Fellow Blipper Linxpix was there to capture the choir too - so we had a little chat and catch up with him. Always good to do.
Otherwise it's been a fairly laid back day, though I've caught up on email and Blip comment. I also used some of my savings to buy another year of National Insurance contributions in an attempt not to be completely potless in the future. Hopefully I will at some point get a proper job and contribute more by the regular channel, but I won't count my chickens...
People my and Brian's age are expected to work, but employers seem to prefer younger people. I get it to an extent, I suppose. Particularly for my sort of work where experience isn't as important as stamina, and they can employ an 18-21 year old for over £2 an hour cheaper. That means the work will be valued at the lower rate, and they'll be reluctant to pay more.
