I want to go home….

Maccommo the lion tamer was in Sunderland in 1879 when Wallace, his tame lion attacked him. On a later visit to Sunderland (did he never learn?) he caught fever and died and is buried here. Wallace died in Liverpool some time later and was acquired for the museum. He’s been here ever since. I was about 4 and living with my grandparent’s and they took me to see the stuffed lion.

Upon seeing Wallace I screamed my head off, terrified I demanded to go home. Wuss. Today I was in town getting my car seen to and popped into the museum. Don’t worry, I was strong and MrsDB looked after me.
