R&R

We have taken ourselves an hour up the road, to escape a difficult week. We are lucky that we can do this, as for most of the family there is no escape. We said a sad farewell to Gemma at her funeral on Tuesday. A much loved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend to hundreds. Borne out by the many many who joined us at Cambridge Crem to celebrate her too short life, and remember the wonderful person she was, and the joy she brought to so many.

It was an extraordinarily difficult and emotional day. Of course we will never forget Gemma, and if you were fortunate enough to have met her, worked with her or shared your life in some way with her, you will understand what a mark she made.

Coming to Sandringham was a way for us to focus on something else. We have had a lovely day, firstly at Norfolk Lavender in Heacham, then a picnic in Hunstanton. It was bright but blowy. We had a short spell on the beach where I couldn’t help myself collecting shells- new craft ideas whirring around in my head.

Then back to the caravan to sit outside for a while reading.

I managed to cook us a big fry up on our two ring gas stove - we used to do it in the trailer tent for 5, so not too difficult! Now I’m heading back to my laptop. Still kind of editing my book. A lot still to do on that score, and my heart hasn’t been in it this past month. Just want to finish the first edit, then I plan to re-write by taking out unnecessary description…something I am guilty of! Getting the balance right is a challenge for me. Do i take out and risk losing readers who like lots of detail, or leave in and bore those who find too much tedious?!!
