The Ash Tree

The ash tree in our garden has suddenly started springing into life, as has the flower bed beneath it.

I walked round the stepping stone path at the back of the garden this afternoon. It leads to the ash tree, and I loved seeing the dappled sunlight gleaming through the petals of the snake’s head fritillaries, and enjoyed the feeling of being in a kind of ‘bluebell wood’ created by the masses of muscari.

We’ve had quite a few days of sunshine now, and the forecast is for lots more in the coming days. As a result, Smithers has really enjoyed sitting outside, but unfortunately he now finds sunlight too bright for his eyes, so his new prescription sunglasses can’t come quickly enough for him.

Incidentally, while writing this blip, I’ve had the song "The Ash Grove" going round and round in my head, a lovely memory from childhood.
