Analysis

I am what I am
And you are what you are.
A little bit of Mother earth,
A twinkle from a star.

A little bit of sunshine
The spray of wind-swept sea,
The color from a mountain
The litheness from a tree.

A touch of Autumn sunrise
The heat of Summer fire,
The pure white of winter
The flame of Spring's desire

The sparkle of a sunbeam
The drabness of a sod,
A little bit of Satan
Yet quite a lot of God.

Envoy

Now wouldn't it be lovely if
Our friends should be so quaint,
As to paint us more of what we are
And less of what we ain't?
