a lifetime burning

Homework

The homework is backing up.  Now that our guests have returned home, I'm being forced to grapple with the tasks that are mounting up for me in front of a computer.  Minutes for last Friday's committee meeting, arrangements and a report for the AGM in 2 weeks time, and yes, the backlog of unprocessed shots from Ecuador's Clould Forest trip. I'm keen to make some progress on the paperwork in particular as the forecast looks as though it is going to be dry for the week, and I'd quite like to get outdoors to enjoy it.

Back to the images awaiting processing, I came across today's image earlier.  I knew that I'd seen this beauty as I remember the guide getting very excited: it being a male Orange-breasted Fruiteater, which is quite a rare bird that is really only found in the humid Montane area in the forest borders.  I remember struggling to get anything like a clear shot of it, trying all sorts of angles on the trees and bushes it was working its way through.  So it was a bit of pleasant surprise to come across this shot, even if you can't see the full extent of the lovely orange beast with its dark collar.
