Almost

I could have done with that stolen hour's sleep last night...

I got to the St Michael's Mount causeway (extra 2) just as the falling tide was starting to expose the end near the mainland and I watched how quickly tide levels alter. Very soon the causeway was marked out by a change in the texture of the sea above it, then by thin whiteness (extra 1), and not long after that I could walk across as long as I stood back for the larger waves. By the time I left the island two hours later, the sea was far out, exposing acres of glimmering sand and seaweed (detail in extra 3). I loved watching the sea in the light and I enjoyed the hard-earned view from the top, but was not desperately interested in the castle. I didn't get a clear sense of its layout nor its change of use over the centuries, and there was far too much about the family who live there. I was back in Penzance earlier than I expected with a chance to explore a little.

There are warning signs at most restaurant terraces about protecting your food from gulls and I had a tense stand-off with one as I ate my lunch sandwich. Yesterday I saw some gulls attack four lads who were not even eating, but my would-be assailant was on its own so probably not so brave.

Late afternoon I checked into the hotel I'm staying in tonight where I'll be meeting some friends when they arrive from Oxford later. I'm not sure how much time I'll have to blip over the next week that we're spending in the Scilly Isles, but I'll be taking photos and backblipping in due course.
