Everyday I Write The Book

Cake and eat it

TGR got up early and made lemon drizzle loaf, which we tucked into after our BST brunch, i.e. a later-than-usual breakfast due to summer time sleep deprivation.

I always think that the first day after the spring clock changes is particularly disconcerting, as if people don’t know what to do with the light evenings. Added to which it coincided with Mother’s Day this year, and it was also the day that Strider turned up with a van to move his stuff down to his new flat in Kent. To make it even more weird, today would have been my father’s 100th birthday and there was a flurry of messages on social media and phone calls from family. By the time TGR left to go back to Oxford at 4pm I was quite overwhelmed and needed a proper sleep.

The Yoga Mama and Mr S also came over and we sat in the shack taking coffee and cake (and in Mr S’s case sampling Tuacah and single malt whiskey). And we also booked some holiday accommodation for September in British Columbia. All before it got dark.

Phew! Definitely had my cake and ate it today …
