The sky, the sea and…. the beach!

I was looking at yesterday’s blip, which had a lavender sort of tone to it. The theme continues. This is the beach covered in thousands upon thousands of Velella velella. The smell is currently of raw scampi. Tomorrow will be less palatable. It seemed a little tragic to see thousand more drifting in to the bay. It’s not a rarity of an event in itself, just not here and in such numbers.

But the blues of the sky and the blues of the ocean were so varied, with the crash of the rollers and white surf, it was tough not to choose one of those shots instead.

Scooby couldn’t have his swim or run on the beach, as there may be a few nematocysts still around. I can’t post this without using their phylum name, Cnidaria. Memories of my Zoology days and long lectures…
