Mission completed.
I managed to find what seemed to be good seat, only four rows from the front. Fine if you are interested in seeing the double bases and little else.
I saw the Titch walk on stage and disappear. I could sometimes see the top of his curly head and that's all.
I took a train and bus to get to the auditorium, enjoying the tour around Rome pretending to be a tourist.
I didn't crack up either. The concert was wonderful and half of the ticket proceeds went to a children's hospital.
I was pressured by S not to come home the way I came but rather take a taxi to my SIL and return home tomorrow.
After the concert I bumped into my son and then the Titch appeared, so I at least had a brief opportunity to see him and have a short chat.
Then I called for a taxi and that is when the trouble began.
No taxi available. Called again and no joy.
Some very kind people tried to help, calling other taxi companies but no luck.
Feeling sorry for me, being an elderly woman, alone and stuck in the middle of nowhere, they dropped me off next to the main station.
I considered getting a taxi from the station but the queue was too long, then creepy irregular taxi driver offered to take me for three times the regular tariff.
No way.
I decided to catch the last train home. Having half an hour to wait, I went to a very posh 1.2 euros loo. I was told quite politely by a soldier in uniform that I should go to the ladies' over there..not the mens, which is what I was trying to do.
At the security control at the entrance to platforms I was stopped and redirected to the entrance because I was attempting to go in via the exit.
Ok. I was tired. I am usually in bed at this hour.
S would have come with me if he hadn't been working. I'm glad I made the effort to go alone.
