Blackness

Blackness Castle is a 15th century fortress, standing on the south shore of the Firth of Forth. It's quite an impressive building when photographed from the beach and I believe it's where Jamie got a bit of whipping from Black Jack Randall. It's been used in various other films too,

I dropped Marian at Frances's this morning and went off for a couple of hours. I parked in Blackness village and walked up to the castle and around the shore.

I arrived back at the hotel with time to get a cup of coffee before meeting up with the others. It was then I realised that instead of it being 12 o'clock as my car said it was actually 1 o'clock and I was late.

We went off with the boys to the Scottish Owl Centre which has the largest collection of owls in the world. We had a bite of lunch and went to see them. There was an interesting introduction to the world of owls. It's the beeding season so lots of owls were sitting on eggs but there was plenty to see.

My first extra is an African Spotted Eagle Owl, which was on display in the introduction and the second extra is a Kookaburra. I know, it isn't an owl and I think it's the only bird there that isn't an owl but he's rather nice and he posed beautifully.

We'll be off to our last stop tomorrow.
