Marjorie's ramblings

Shades of autumn to come?

I was busy at home this morning - nearer to seeing the wood of the desk, but not there yet. I had my first attempt at my visa application for India. I remember now how complicated it was last time. They want to know if I have been to India before? Yes. Where did I stay? What was the address? (Arghh!) I've saved the form and left it for a calmer day.

This afternoon I met up with Francisco, newly of this parish, and he came with me for a drive along the Military Road to points west. I had to do some deliveries and collections, related to the walking festival. In Haltwhistle, Miles Bell (of Billy Bell fame) impressed by knowing the full name of F's football team, Real Betis. At the bird food shop, the owner is Spanish and from the same region, so they had a chat. We visited Slack House Farm for tea and cake too. Back here for a fish pie supper. En route we saw Marie and Tony - good luck with your 20 mile walk tomorrow - and Julie - who speaks Spanish.

F wants to improve his English so he and Mum and I talked a lot and he asked a lot of questions about how to say things. I'm not sure who is more tired (or is that tireder?).

For those who have followed the saga of our poorly relatives in Sunderland, Ernie managed finally to slip away yesterday. His wife is back in hospital after a fall and I sincerely hope they do not try to send her home again where it is impossible to provide the care she needs.

Off to Lowther Fair tomorrow. Should be interesting.

PS Had not taken photos all day - so popped into the garden where this hypericum is heading for its autumn colour.
