Awaiting the cast
Love's Labours Lost, Act IV Sc iii; Avondale College
Each year for 34 years secondary schools around the country can take part in a regional Shakespeare Festival in which a five minute or a 15 minute scene is presented and judged. There were 23 entries, ten of which were 15 minutes. Young L was one of four boys young men who presented under the direction of their drama teacher, the bove named scene.
We had come to watch and support. Little did I think I would laugh as long and loudly as I did. Along with the rest of the audience. They never missed a beat as they spoke the words written by Shakespeare so many years ago. The presentation was powerfully physical and was presented as if it were a dance, with the four actors in concert with each other.
The judges liked it too, and awarded them Best 15 minute scene. They will be invited to perform again at the National Shakespeare Festival later this year. So proud of the part Young L played in this effort.
