Mothering Sunday

Another packed day, when I could have done without losing an hour overnight for the change to British Summer Time!

I arrived at St Luke’s earlier than usual in order to put roses from my sister and me on Mum and Dad’s grave for Mothering Sunday (see Extras). At the service, the posies I’d contributed daffodils to were given out to everyone in the congregation - I placed mine with the other flowers for Mum in the churchyard afterwards. We also had the opportunity to light a candle in memory of Mums no longer with us, which I did.

After coffee, I set off for Mersea Island where my niece and her husband have a holiday lodge. I beat the spring tide, which makes the crossing impassable for an hour or so. My sister and great-niece were there too - sadly my great-nephew was ill and couldn’t come. I gave pretty spring posies to my sister and niece which included daffodils, tulips, roses, irises and hyacinths (in Extras). We had a lovely afternoon tea at the lodge, including some Bucks fizz, then a little walk around the park and the beach (see Extras and main blip). After that we settled down for the afternoon and I think we all nodded off in the warmth at times!

I meant to post this blip in the evening, but fell asleep on the sofa after all the eating. It’s been a lovely day.
