Staring Contest

Chaiyya (on the chair) and the wood pigeon have been staring at each other in this exact same position for at least 20 minutes. 

I saw this scene, and went to get my phone, hoping for a blip. When I came back, they hadn’t moved. I took this photo through the open terrace door, and they didn’t seem to notice me at all. Then I went away to water the house plants. As I checked on them again, nothing had changed. 

Another couple of minutes later, the pigeon flew away, and Chaiyya came back in - head and tail held high, clearly a winner.
