Community Fridge

On Mondays you’ll find me at my church food bank and community fridge. A huge amount of hours are given by all the volunteers each week to collect food for ‘bags of hope’, collect food waste from supermarkets and even KFC, drop off food parcels, serve around 200 people a day and run our community cafe.

It’s a very special way to start the week!

We serve the community and get alongside people who need us. Sometimes it’s a listening ear or some support with food, maybe advice from various agencies who come on Mondays, like citizens advice and NHS/Health services. We run English speaking lessons, money management courses, table tennis, and have books, clothes and shoes available to take too.

The bond the team share and the community that has been built here is really special - I just wish we didn’t live in a world where people were struggling to get their basic needs met and are hungry.

Hope you all had a good start to the week x
