Gunderodehaus

We both slept (surprisingly) well on the ferry and enjoyed a relaxed breakfast before disembarking. Passport control was straightforward and we were soon on our way through the Netherlands to Germany.

Our destination was Koblenz but we made our way first to the Gunderodehaus - the house which was at the heart of Heimat 3, perched up high looking down at Obervessel and the Rhine.

The first sight was a joy as was wandering around the outside.  It was all so familar including the tree in the courtyard and the view.

It is now a restaurant but only open at present at weekends so we had the place to ourselves initially and could freely wander. We weren't the only Heimat fans visiting - two more couples had arrived by the time we left.

Our room in Kobkenz overlooks the Rhine and we walked along its banks to where it meets the Mosel, continuing along its bank and then back through the town itself before dinner. It was a lovely evening and nice to out in the fresh air.
