Prickly

Here we are in Arrecife, Canary Islands.  What a difference from the last several ports in Western Africa!  No grinding poverty, no mountains of garbage/plastic waste, no smoky, choking air ...

Today we took a tour of some of the sites that the famous Canary Island artist Cesar Manrique Cabrera (better known as Manrique) developed on the island of Arrecife.   The first place we visited was the Jardín de Cactus -- an amazing site with so many different kinds of cactus, all (or many) of which were in bloom! 

We also visited Morador del Rio and Jameos del Agua -- both amazing places that he created to showcase the amazing beauty of his native island.  It was a real treat to visit these sites today!
