Lark ascending

Most of the day faffing in the garden playing chess with bits of stone and path sorting. Lugging a hefty bit of sandstone I lost balance and had to let the flag fall rather than drop on my foot so I’m going to end up with something more akin to crazy paving, but better that than a flat foot.

I nipped to Pooley Bridge, which was blissfully quiet, to my favourite post office, to send my Swiss great niece’s birthday card and went for a late walk on Barton where air was full of the sound of skylarks, the fell ponies were frisking about and I flushed a snipe.
