London pigeons

This lunchtime took me to the Embankments Gardens, which used to be part of the River Thames until 1862 when the Victorians reclaimed land from the river. These pigeons are sitting on the watergate to York House. The gate used to stand on the North Bank of the Thames and was built in 1626 (it now stands 150 yards from the river). York House was demolished in 1675 and a network of streets and building exist where it once stood.

I was in-house working today after having Tuesday off for sadness. It felt odd going in on a Friday, especially when so many people are on holiday or one summer working hours (some folk work extra hours Monday to Thursday to have Friday afternoon off).

Fred's flu symptoms seem to be getting better and he's had no temperature throughout, so it's not swine flu. Phew!

Happy Weekend!
