Busy day!
We managed to pack in so much today. First off we went to a favourite, the Rodin Museum in the 7th Arrondissement. I know it well as on one of my first visits to France au pairing I worked for a family whose apartment looked into the grounds. It was a perfect Sunday morning start drifting round the beautiful house and garden looking at some of the most powerful sculptures ever created. I’ve put this one up as it shows the setting well but it was like meeting old friends in every room. Some of them even had their clothes on!
After that we went for our planned lunch at Brasserie Lipp, again an old favourite where I hadn’t been for years but the food was classic French done luxuriously. I had leeks vinaigrette, veal with morel mushrooms and we shared a giant Île flottante - pictured in extras! After that we wandered down St Germain, stopping at Buly which has become a Tik-Tok sensation and we weren’t going to queue. Dropped into Dries for a lipstick refill and then HB went home for a nap and I headed off, via Merci, to meet Rory - for he is here! (BTW there is a Merci 2 which was much nearer and I missed it)
Rory and I found each other around Le Marais and had a drink before going to meet HB and Jeremy and Louise at the Pompidou Centre to see if we could blag our way into the Suzanne Valadon exhibition which was technically sold out but a local had said it’s worth going close to the end of the exhibition well after the last entry to see if you can get in. And it worked. We loved it a lot
And then went off to find somewhere for dinner, HB and I protesting we still couldn’t eat a thing, and then did.
