Away Day
Two or three of Englands Premier League Rugby Clubs donate tickets to the Royal Navy Patrons for Veterans to use. I was fortunate enough to win the ballot for tickets to Bath v Quins today. Bath top of the table and Quins my club.
The train from Falmouth to Bath Spa via Truro and Bristol Temple Meads got me there in time for a pre match sandwich and pint. Really good seats only 10 feet from the touchline meant I had a great view of a really entertaining game. As expected Bath came out on top with Quins picking up a try bonus point.
Plenty of time after the game to get to the station for the return journey. Arriving at Bristol Temple Meads we found our train cancelled - no chance of a train into Cornwall tonight.
The ‘stopping’ train into Plymouth followed by a fleet of taxis to get the Cornwall ‘natives’ home, detouring when we found the A38 closed for the night.
After being dropped at Falmouth Station the walk up from town meant I arrived back home a few minutes before midnight.
A great day out.
