Field Day
Neighbours hosted a field day on rehydrating the landscape today. It was presented by the Mulloon Institute, which researches and develops the Natural Sequence Farming methods developed by Peter Andrews.
Some of the suggestions would also come from Allan Savory’s cell grazing, which utilises grazing animals in restoring landscapes.
They were discussing how to slow down the water in eroded creeks by building leaky weirs; and gradually allowing the silt to build up and plants to establish to stabilise the area.
My new word for the day was ‘albedo’, the amount of light from the sun which the earth reflects back into space.
