I’m not really here
Our female Blackbird occasionally arrives in the evening to see what she can forage from what has dropped from the feeders. She chooses a time when there aren’t any other birds around and does not like to be spotted.
Mind you, if it was Gordon here it might be different! He is her friend. Every morning, when he arrives back from fetching the paper, she is waiting by the gate and follows him round the house, because she knows he will put some food out for her and she can get it before the others arrive.
From all the numbers of Blackbirds we have had in the garden over the winter, especially when apples were available, we now have a pair who have established their territory. He sings, morning and night, to proclaim this.
