A metal bird in a metal cage

Birdystopia? Robobird? Full metal finch? The cat and the (tin) can-ary (love that film - Bob Hope).

Tried out my new chain saw today. Works a treat once you get the chain on the right way ‘round! Spent time reading the safety instructions. Serious piece of equipment. Disposed of the dead wisteria with ease. 

Reading Colm Toibin’s The Blackwater Lightship. Very good. He’s an excellent writer and you get a real sense of place with this one. It is principally about a dysfunctional woman / mother / grandmother relationship as they circle and argue around a dying brother / son / grandson. 

Long chat with Big Brother. Four months ago today since his partner died. He’s doing okay but it’s still hard.

Did a bit of cooking. I have a gripe with basmati as I find it rather dull but think I have worked out how to make it more interesting.
