The Kelpies

The ‘Kelpies’ can be found near an area called Skinflats.
These remarkable sculptures are in an area of parkland known as The Helix.

A kelpie or water kelpie is a mythical shape-shifting spirit inhabiting lochs in Scottish folklore.

A kelpie is usually described as a horse-like creature able to adopt human form.

These particular sculptures are 30 metres high.

‘Herr Doktor’ had only seen these sculptures from the bus that travels on the M9 motorway.

Pat and I met up with Jurgen at his award winning house, designed by Pat and myself. We then journeyed to the Helix Park to view these incredible sculptures in the metal.

I took about 100 photos of the Kelpies and the Helix park.
Thereafter we drove back to Jurgen’s home and enjoyed a fine dinner made by Pat.

Our next trip with Jurgen is to journey on the ‘Ship Lift’

The third extra is a plant sculpture made out of bicycle parts. ‘Recycled indeed’.
