There Must Be Magic

A Glimpse Into the Wine Cellar

It had come to my attention recently that the wine and spirits shop on North Atherton Street across from McDonald's will be replaced by a new wine shop that will be located at the nearby former Rite Aid location. I have not seen a timeline listed for when that will occur.

On this day, as I walked past the existing shop, I decided to take a few pictures of the mural type graphics on the front. I just liked the way they looked, and they reminded me of that Columbo episode that features a wine cellar, Any Old Port in a Storm. So anyway, here is a photo to document what will eventually only be "yet one more thing that used to be, that isn't anymore." There's a lot of that going around. Or so I hear.

In other news, I dropped off my last library book, which is a biography of Stevie Nicks by Zoe Howe, Visions, Dreams & Rumours. I have been languidly reading it for weeks, enjoying the feeling of hanging out with Stevie and being her girlfriend during that time. It was hard to let it go. There are so many good stories, and as I read it, I looked on YouTube for links to the special performances it talked about. What a treasure trove!

I read with interest about a time in 1986 that Stevie performed with Tom Petty and Bob Dylan in Australia. But Stevie didn't have her working papers, and so they threatened to throw her out of the country and never let her back in again, ever, if she did any further performances (even picking up her famous tambourine), without the papers.

Well, one gathers that Stevie jumped through all of the appropriate hoops to work things out, as she has appeared in Australia many times since then. But it's a story worth telling. And here's a song from that performance for all of us to enjoy: Stevie Nicks, Tom Petty, and Bob Dylan, performing Knockin' on Heaven's Door.
