At the Library
This morning I walked into town with G to go to the library for a talk by Gary and Nichola Hunter of Hunters of Holt, a ‘boutique shop adorned with chocolate confections’. Gary talked about how he had to retire from a career in London due to health issues and set up initially courses on making artisan chocolates, then 18 months ago also opening their shop in Holt. He is a really passionate chocolatier whose big break was appearing on James Martin’s show. During the 18 months the shop has been open, the price of chocolate has gone up 400% due to climate issues, political issues (restricting supply to push up prices), and destruction of cocoa plants caused by mining for gold using mercury. There was a tasting of the chocolate callets used, and we all got to try one of their chocolates. https://hunterschocolate.co.uk/chocolate-shop/
The flowers were in the little Library garden, PlantNet suggests they are paper-white narcissus, I’d not seen multiple flower heads like this.
This afternoon I went to the Thursdays@3 concert at Cley Church, this one was called Medieval Meets Modern and included 5 singers, 3 narrators and the 4 musicians played saxophone, recorder, alto flute and bassoon. It was described as a miscellany of Medieval and Early Renaissance music and readings with a modern twist. The readings were thankfully in modern English rather than the original Middle English. Another thoroughly enjoyable and innovative concert, we are so lucky to have them.
