Three-cornered leek in the Cairn
Another really busy work day, with the staff wellbeing stuff adding to my workload. I sat out at lunch again, with Tim, which was a nice break from it all. Very breezy out there, but still nice and sunny.
I broke off late afternoon, too, to have a walk at the Cairn. It was lovely in there, and I even spotted my first bluebells of the year (tough to pick between that photo and this one) - but then I got up to near the old Victorian shelter, below the viewpoint, and saw someone having a big fire in there. He turned round just as I spotted him (and the huge flames), so rather than risk a confrontation (because it was clearly an act of arson), I veered off onto another path. I messaged the other Cairn volunteers and they agreed it was worth a call to the police. I called 101, who advised me to call the fire brigade, which I did. I saw the fire engine go past our house later on, and one of the other Cairn volunteers went up there later in the evening and reported that the fire had been put out. Sadly, the one remaining (original Victorian) bench in the shelter was a goner - definitely deliberate, as there were a load of logs underneath it which had been placed there and set alight. So sad and unnecessary.
